Minister of Education and Workforce Development, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, JP, MP attended a special ceremony to commemorate the 41st anniversary of the Child Development Programme and present certificates to children enrolled in the programmes.

Jon Beard clocks up 40 years in teaching in Bermuda. At the age of 24, a fresh faced Jon Beard landed in Bermuda to start just his second job in teaching with no idea that the Island would become his home for the next four decades. Taking up his new job as Head of PE at Saltus Grammar School, he could not have imagined he would still be at the same school 40 years later.

The Minister of Social Development and Sports, The Hon. Michael Weeks, JP, MP, is pleased to announce that 29 young people between the ages of 14-18 successfully completed the third phase of the Mirrors Community Programme on Saturday June 2, 2018 at the Whitney Institute Middle School. The Community Programme consisted of three phases – Enrolment, Residential and an eight Month Follow Through - based on the eight Keys of Excellence.

The Minister of Home Affairs the Hon. Walton Brown JP MP is part of a Bermuda delegation currently attending the 107th session of the International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland. The tenth annual Technology Leadership Forum (TLF) Internship Programme launched with eight technology interns participating in the summer programme. The 2018 TLF interns who passed the rigorous selection process are: Stephen Outerbridge, Justine Dzofonoo-Burch, Sher-Kyra Outerbridge, Raven Duffy, Kiara Saunders, Jalesa Vincent, Matthew Correia and Stephen Galloway.

More than two thousand dollars was donated to charity by the Ex-Artillarymen’s Association following a Mother’s Day bruncheon and expose. The lucky recipients of the cash were local cancer charities PALS and the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.

During the Minister’s Statement period earlier today the Min of National Security provided the Government’s view on the appointment of the next COP to replace the soon to retire current COP Michael DeSilva and during that statement the Hon. Minister made some comments that I wish to address.
