UPDATE : Police can confirm a 38 year old male from the United States died as a result of the incident at Horseshoe Bay Beach today. Death was Certified at 3pm by a doctor at KEMH. No further information will be given until the next of kin has been notified.

Recently the Minister for the Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform, the Hon. On Sunday 4th June, 2018, the Ministry of Home Affairs was alerted to a shark sighting at Shelly Bay through social media and direct phone calls. An Officer attended the scene within 30 minutes of being alerted but the shark had already departed the area. The films circulating on social media indicate that the shark is a hammerhead (Sphyrna sp.) although an exact identification of species is not possible. The animal appears to be the same size as previous sightings over the past few months, and is likely the same animal.

The President of Bermuda Union of Teachers (BUT), Shannon James said: “Following the release of our statement last week in which we were critical of the Minister of Education and Workforce Development, we can confirm that the BUT, Minister Diallo Rabain and Acting Commissioner of Education met earlier this week.
